Lately I've been getting more questions about writerly things, so I figured it would be fun to do a weekly TOP TEN #writer's tips on different topics.  This week I'll do one of the first I learned as a published author. Took some trial and error, but this is a list of what worked for me. I find guest posts can be a great way to expose you to new readers. So many give up on doing them because they don't feel there's any point.  Why? Because they don't get comments. Sales don't budge. It seems like a lot of work for nothing. What's important when doing any kind of marketing is to consider what you're trying to get out of it. If it's to reach readers a good post will do that. There's a '7 times' rule I've seen repeated over and over again. There's no real evidence to this, but your books do need to be seen if you want readers to give them a chance. I LOVE BOOKS. Of course, that's obvious, but there's one thing that I can't do with them... I can't read a book I truly love only once. Now, ebooks are awesome, because I used to travel with 5-10 books and that's obviously not fun. Totally worth it to have my escape wherever I go, but an ereader mean I don't have to limit myself to what I can carry. I can have all my favorites wherever I go. But I'm not a complete convert. Ebooks can't give me the smell of an old book. The smooth feel of the pages as I brush my fingers over them, my eyes skimming the printed words that just aren't quite the same on screen. Get Stuff Done! Yep, it's that simple. It's the first day of 2012, and I'm just getting around to looking back at 2011 and asking myself: What did I do with all that time? Well, let's see- January 3 rd 2011-I published my first book, Rosemary Entwined. This isn't the first books I've ever written—not even the first romance novel. But I was my first ménage and my first attempt to write hot sex. I challenge myself when I wrote this. People said anything more than 3 men and one woman isn't a relationship, it's a gang bang. Proving them wrong was never the point—most of them probably won't read Rosemary Entwined, but that's fine. I wrote the story and there are people out there that feel the love, that enjoyed getting swept away into Rosemary's world where 7 men are truly devoted to one woman.
